IGEM Technical Training course
About The Event
Hazardous Area Classification Practitioner

Course outline

This one day, advanced training course has been designed specifically for those who are working with IGEM technical standard SR/25 and the SR/25 calculator in order to carry out hazardous area classification of natural gas installations.

It offers delegates the opportunity to; extend existing knowledge of the standard, explore the practicalities of carrying out hazardous area classification in accordance with it, and become confident in using the SR/25 calculator to quickly and easily perform hazardous area calculations.

Our expert trainer has considerable experience of undertaking hazardous area classification for the gas industry and utilises a number of real life case studies to bring the subject to life. Delegates are actively encouraged to bring along details of the installations on which they work to add to the discussion.

Key outcomes and objectives

On completion of the course delegates should be able to:

• apply the principles of assessment and provide detailed requirements for the hazardous area classification of permanent and temporary natural gas installations

• identify the hazards associated with natural gas installations
• comply with the legal obligations that require operators of natural gas installations to be aware of the hazards associated with them and to take steps to minimise the risks.

The course also equips delegates with an understanding of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) and other standards relevant to hazardous area classification.

Who should attend?

Anyone who is familiar with IGEM/SR/25 Hazardous Area Classification of Natural Gas Installations, and has access to the associated SR/25 calculator.

Please note we recommend that if you have attended the Introduction course you leave a period of time before attending this Practitioner course to allow you sufficient time to become familiar with the SR/25 calculator.
