About The Event
International Innovation and the Future of Gas

The Annual IGEM North East & Yorkshire Section Innovation Event and AGM returns to The Pavilions of Harrogate for what is sure to be an exciting and insightful afternoon. The afternoon will host three industry keynote speakers and a presentation from the winner of the North East & Yorkshire Section YPPC heat 2018. In addition to this a wide variety of companies in the gas industry supply chain will provide demonstrations of their innovative products.

  • Dan Sadler, Head of Gas Futures, Northern Gas Networks (NGN) - Dan provide an update on the high profile H21 project and vision following a very busy 12 months. H21 is considered one of the realistic solutions to the 2050 carbon reduction challenge and the presentation is certain to excite opinion and discussion, this is definitely one not to be missed!

  • Adam Madgett, Innovation Portfolio Manager Northern Gas Networks (NGN) - NGN’s Innovation team have been pushing the boundaries of technology over the last year and will be sharing the latest project updates. From gas detection dogs to clever sensors, this is a great opportunity to explore how NGN are leading the way in smart energy thinking.

  • Will Slater, Asset Risk and Strategy Analyst, Northern Gas Networks (NGN) - Will will share his personal experience and the insights he gained from spending two weeks with a gas company on the other side of the world. Jemena Gas owns both transmission and distribution gas assets across multiple states in Australia, operating in an environment which is quite different to that of the UK, but has the same underlying purpose.

Following this, the Section’s YPPC heat 2018 winner will deliver their presentation, which they will enter into the national Grand Final in June. The overall competition winner will receive the prize of a trip to the 2019 World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi.

There will be a wealth of exhibitors and demonstrators from the gas industry supply chain, exhibiting their innovative products throughout the day. The stalls are interactive and there will be company representatives on hand for discussion.

This event is one of the highlights of the Section’s calendar and will be of interest to anybody involved in the gas industry, especially those who have an eye on what the future holds and how they can become more involved in shaping the future of gas, both nationally and further afield.
