A North East & Yorkshire Section event
About The Event
Innovation Event & AGM: What the Internet of Things Holds for the Gas Industry

The IGEM North East & Yorkshire Section's Annual Innovation Event & AGM returns to The Pavilions of Harrogate for what is sure to be an exciting and insightful afternoon.

The event will host two industry keynote speakers, delivering their thoughts on what the Internet of Things holds for the gas industry.

One of the keynote speakers is Keith Owen, Head of Systems Development and Energy Strategy at Northern Gas Networks. Keith will discuss the development of smart gas networks adopting digital solutions to support the decarbonisation of gas.

Dr David Dunn, CEO of Sunderland Software City, will deliver the second keynote speech entitled 'Don’t mention IT… why would anyone adopt technology!'. Sunderland Software City is an organisation focused on supporting the development of the software sector across the North East of England. Software City also host the Digital Catapult North East & Tees Valley, which supports traditionally non-digital businesses to understand and adopt digital technology.

The keynote speakers will be followed by a presentation from Andrew Wynne, the winner of the North East & Yorkshire YPPC Section heat 2019.

In addition to this, there will be a wealth of organisations from the gas industry supply chain exhibiting their innovative products throughout the day. The stands are interactive and there will be company representatives on hand for discussion.

This event is one of the highlights of the Section’s calendar and will be of interest to anybody involved in the gas industry, especially those who have an eye on what the future holds and how they can become more involved in shaping the future of gas, both nationally and further afield.
