London Showcase and Lions' Lair


The popular London Showcase and Lions' Lair is back for another year. A joint event between IGEM's London, Southern & Eastern Section and The Pipeline Industries Guild this event provides a great opportunity to network with colleagues across the industry and to hear the latest innovations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear a keynote speech from Mark Horsley, CEO at Northern Gas Networks, with a presentation entitled Northern Soul. This will follow the Lions' Lair.

The competition

Five contestants will enter the Lions' Lair where each of the contenders will have four minutes to present their new innovation followed by four minutes of questions by the 'Lions'. The competition winner will be presented with the coveted Tommy McNicholas Shield.

The shortlisted finalists for this year's Lions' Lair competition are:

  • Regent Gas and Energy Metering Solutions - Sam White, Consultant Engineer 
  • Steve Vick - Andy Hutchison, Technical Support Engineer

This year's panel includes:

  • Chris Clarke, Future Strategy Director at Wales & West Utilities
  • James Harrison, Head of Operations for London at Cadent

Ben Kinsella Trust

This year's London Showcase and Lions' Lair will support The Ben Kinsella Trust. Donation's made on the evening will help the charity to 'educate children about the dangers of knife crime and make our streets safer for everyone'.


IGEM has become the first national charity partner for Solutions for the Planet's Big Ideas programme.

IGEM is offering its members the opportunity to join the programme as a business mentor, which is a great opportunity for them to enhance their own personal development as well as working with many creative young minds.

Solutions for the Planet will be in attendance to discuss their Big Ideas programme and how you can get involved.
