About The Event
Scottish Borders Railway Presentation

A technical paper evening on the Scottish Borders Railway Project presented by Colin MacDonald, Programme Manager Network Rail. Colin will present a detailed account of the vast scope of engineering works delivered on the 30 mile railway line project, including some of the major challenges that were overcome to deliver the longest new domestic railway to be built in Britain for over 100 years.

This talk will provide an opportunity to hear about design and construction challenges in another industry, the differences and the similarities. It is also just a good opportunity to hear about one of the most high profile major engineering projects in Scotland of recent years.

If you have any interest in ‘big engineering’ then this is the talk for you.

Colin MacDonald is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Programme Manager with Network Rail and was a Project Manager during the design and construction of the new Borders Railway, from 2012 through to the opening in September 2015.

There will be a chance to network from 18:00 with the presentation starting at 18:30
