A London, Southern and Eastern Section event
About The Event
Tour of Grain LNG and Section AGM

An opportunity to gain access to Europe’s largest LNG importation terminal for a full site visit, followed by the London, Southern & Eastern Section’s Annual General Meeting.

Grain LNG is of strategic national importance to the UK energy infrastructure and security of supply. It is the largest terminal in Europe and the eighth largest in the world by tank capacity, with a site that spans over 600 acres in total.

The facility was built in 1980 as a Peak Shave Plant to provide extra capacity to the UK system during periods of peak demands. In 2005 Grain LNG converted to become a LNG Importation Terminal with the ability to offload LNG ships from around the world and the capacity to supply in the region of 4% of the UK’s gas demand. After rapid expansion, including a second and third phase, Grain LNG now has the capacity to deliver 20% of UK demand.

Presentations about the facility will complement the tour. The London, Southern & Eastern Section’s AGM will take place after the event.

Please note that there is limited parking on site, therefore, transportation from Rochester Railway Station will be provided. Please advise if you would like to book a space on the complimentary transport.
